Lucia Moniz (b.1976) is a Portuguese singer and actress.
Lucia Moniz was born in Lisbon, Portugal, the daughter of actor Carlos Alberto Moniz Pereira and Marie do Amparo. She has a younger sister, actress Sara Moniz, and a half-brother. Lucia attended from 1990 to 1991, the Music Academy of Santa Cecilia. Later she went to Minnesota to the Eden Prairie High School where she received an award for the best composer of the school. In 1996 she reached, in Euro Vision Song Contest, the 6th place for Portugal. Although this was the best ever placement for their homeland, the song “O meu coracao nao tem cor” remained fairly unknown in Portugal. After her participation in Euro Vision, Lucia made her career in the theater and in soap operas and became fairly well known in Portugal.
In 1999, she released her first album Magnolia, which contains English and Portuguese pop songs. These have no musical resemblance to her song at the Euro Vision Song Contest. Lucia is still working as an actress and singer. In Portugal it is known in both activities. The albums 67 (2002, produced by Nuno Bettencourt), Leva-me p'ra Casa (2005) and Fio de Luz (2011) held several weeks in the Portuguese charts.
Lucia has a daughter, born in June 2004, from a previous relationship with musician Donovan Bettencourt.
